About Zellap

We built the system ourselves.
Nothing out there held up.

The website your customers see, the operations behind it, and the hardware in the room. One system, one codebase, all ours.

Your domain, your customersOnline and in-storeThe developer answers you personally

Ownership

You own the relationship.

The domain, the lists and the customers belong to your business. No middleman gets to stand between you and the people paying you.

Reach

We don't stop at the browser.

Sensors that measure, counters that count, lights and machines that react to what's happening in the room. An agency hands you a website and goes home.

Our own code

The features are ours.

Booking, calendar and point of sale are our own code. No third party can change how your booking behaves, and nothing stops working because some vendor gave up.

The company

What Zellap is.

A small Norwegian software house. We build the website your business sells from, and the operations running underneath it.

Everything is built to order. Describe your business, and you get the tools it needs. Any industry.

If we've already built for your industry, it's ready to go and moves faster. Hairdressers and salons were first.

Nothing gets sold to a new customer before it's run in daily operation somewhere. Our first customer has run the whole stack since day one.

We have strong opinions about how this should be done. The opinions come from everything we tried first.

The standard

What we refuse to do.

Most tools stop caring the moment your card is charged. That's where the real work starts.

We won't put a salesperson on you before you've seen the product, or a support queue on you after you've signed.

We never push your booking off to some stranger's subdomain with a different logo on top. Customers shouldn't leave your site the moment they decide to book.

We don't run a marketplace. Nobody lines up three competitors next to you while they take your customer.

And no free plan. Freemium is a floor no real business can run on, and the bill shows up the moment you outgrow it. You get our price the first time you ask.

And we don't hold your data hostage. Cancel, and you walk away with your customer list, your bookings and your content.

You rent the website. You own the data.

The story · from the founder

It was supposed to take a week.

I started programming at 16, self-taught, without a single hour of formal instruction. For years it stayed a hobby — I built things for myself because what was out there was worse than what I could build.

Then came the first person willing to pay. A real website for a real business. Zellap was registered that November.

Two more clients followed, both custom, both shaped around the business they had to run. The hobby became a company for one reason: nothing else out there was good enough.

The job that shaped everything after looked simple enough: a landing page hooked up to a booking system.

My requirement was that the customer should never leave the site, and that the business should stand front and center with the people it sells to. None of the existing services pulled that off. One sent the customer away to my own site's rival. The other wanted the customer on its own marketplace instead.

So I wrote the booking system and calendar myself. Then everything else.

The proof came from one salon

The first customer to get the full system got a website built from scratch, with booking and SEO work underneath it.

Within a year, the website had paid for itself.

The early feedback came down to two things: it was fast, and it was clean. People praise speed when that's the strongest impression left with them.

So I redesigned it around them. Same system underneath, same speed — and that's when it took off.

The system delivered from day one. The design was what actually got people to use it.

That redesign is why the platform looks the way it does today. The work went in as sections, variants and themes, so the next customer starts there instead of hiring a designer first.

That's also why a designer is joining this year. The better that set gets, the less anyone has to draw from scratch.

The industry lives in the code

The tools are shaped for one industry at a time. The system knows someone can call to cancel ten minutes out, that two chairs run at once, and what happens to the rest of the day once it starts slipping. An empty template hands all of that back to you and calls it flexibility.

Hairdressers and salons came first because it's the business I know best. I know what falls through the cracks in a busy week, and what nobody bothers logging when there are people standing there waiting.

About AI, no spin

I'm one developer. Of course I use AI. How is the whole point.

Two websites can look identical in the browser and be completely different things underneath. Looks are the cheap half. The difference shows up when forty people book in the same minute, when the card payment goes through right as the connection drops, or when someone impatiently double-clicks "Confirm" and ends up with two bookings on the calendar.

It takes fifteen minutes to generate a page that looks expensive. The bill shows up around month three.

A model is trained on the average of everything ever written. The average is mediocre, and mediocre is the default answer you get. It amplifies whatever you already bring to it — good at something, and you get there faster; weak at something, and you get that weakness handed back at full volume, written in a tone dripping with confidence. A more powerful model just makes the swing bigger in both directions.

The model writes the draft. I read it and throw most of it away. What I gain is trying ten versions of an idea in the time it used to take to write one.

An answer that looks right tends to fall apart on the third edge case. If you've never built it yourself, you find that out the hard way — when a customer calls.

The team

As small as it sounds.

One person writes the code, runs the servers, and answers when something breaks. Same person, every time.

Anna joins as designer this autumn. Her work is original.

One-off jobs go out to people we've worked with before. The code stays here.

What's next

We're only just getting started.

More tools are in the works, and more industries are getting their own version. Nothing ships before it's run in daily use here first.

We're talking to companies we'd like to partner with, so our customers get real alternatives instead of whoever paid for the spot first. We've already mapped the market.

Join now, and you get a say in what we build next. It's still early days, and we plan on having fun along the way.

Tell us what's bugging you. We'll build the fix.

Describe your business, and you'll get scope and a timeline right away.
